FAQ's

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATUROPATHY AND HOMEOPATHY?
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine based on a unique philosophy and treatment principles.  Naturopathy encompasses all modes of natural healing, including the basic principles of homeopathy, acupuncture, herbology, nutrition and others. A homeopath is a specialist in the system of homeopathy.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN SEEING A HOMEOPATH?
Because a homeopath needs to determine what is most unique about your symptoms, a great amount of time can be spent discussing your physical and emotional well-being.  The homeopath will want to discuss everything from stress to sleeping patterns.  The initial consultation can be up to 2 hours.  Follow-ups are up to 15-60 minutes.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO HOMEOPATHS HAVE?
Homeopathy became a regulated health profession in the province of Ontario in 2015.  In order to use the title "Homoepath", a person must have successfully completed 750 hours of theoretical instruction, as well as 250 hours of supervised clinical practice, and must be registered with the College of Homeopaths of Ontario. Up until April of 2016, a "grandparented" stream of homeopaths was allowed to register with the college using a rigorous individual assessment process to prove competency in the field of homeopathy.

WHAT ARE HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES MADE FROM?
Most homeopathic remedies are made from natural sources such as plants, animal products and minerals.  The remedies are refined from the original source by a process called “dilution and sucussion”.

ARE HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES SAFE?
Yes.  Because the amount of remedy given is so small, there is virtually no risk of toxic side-effects.  This makes homeopathy safe in pregnancy, for children, the elderly and in pets.  Homeopathic pharmacies operate with strict quality assurance.  Most homeopathic remedies are available over the counter; however the remedies are most safely used while under the direct care of a professional homeopath.

HOW DOES HOMEOPATHY WORK?
Science has not yet been able to explain the mechanism of action of homeopathic remedies.  However, research shows that homeopathic remedies are biologically active.  Homeopathy has been clinically successful for over 200 years and is the 2rd most commonly used system of medicine in the world.
